A Chippenham soldier who had served since the outbreak of the war in France and in the Middle East, CSM Sidney Little, RASC of Woodlands Road, Chippenham died in the Royal United Hospital, Bath on Sunday at the age of 34. The second son of Mr and Mrs W Little of Foghamshire, he attended Ivy Lane school and was afterwards employed as a saddler by Mr J Newman. He served for some years with the Royal Wiltshire Yeomanry, holding the rank of Cpl.

At the outbreak of the present war he was called to the colours of the RASC, supplementary reserve. He went to France and following the evacuation from Dunkirk, he was sent to the Middle East. After serving there for about 2 years he was taken ill and was eventually brought back to this country being in hospital in Oxford and subsequently Bath. He was formerly a member of the Chippenham town and British Legion bands and a member of the committee of the Old Chippenham Rovers FC. He leaves a widow and a small daughter.
