In loving memory of Sgt Lane who died of wounds April 17th 1918 at a casualty clearing station in France.

Days of sadness still come o’er us
Silent tears do often flow
Not an hour do we forget him
Although he died two years ago.

Reported to have served in Salonika where he caught malaria. After recovering at home, he was sent to France 10 Mar 1917.
