Pte E Townsend, 20, the son of Eden and Charlotte Townsend. Reported missing after an engagement in the Persian Gulf April 9 1916. Now reported dead.

Thy word is true, Thy will is just.
To thee we leave him, Lord in trust.

In loving memory of Pte E Townsend aged 20 of the 5th Wiltshire Regiment who was reported killed in the Persian Gulf April 5th 1918 youngest son of Eden Townsend, 56 Woodlane, Chippenham.

In freedoms name he suffered,
For righteous he died;
His not to see the victory,
And welcome it with pride.
Greater love hath no man than this
