Notes |
Son of Matthew Phillips; husband of E. F. E. Phillips, of 27, River
St., Chippenham. Born Chippenham.
Formerly 26063 Wilts Regt
Mrs Phillips of River St recently received the sad news of the death of
her husband in Flanders. Deceased before he joined up was a milk retailer
in the town. Soon after receiving the intelligence of the death of her
husband, the widow had further trouble. Her 7 year old boy went into a
loft where a chaff cutting machine was being drawn by a horse. In the
temporary absence of the person in charge, he got down into the machine and
his left arm was so lacerated that it was found necessary at the Cottage
hospital to which the little fellow was taken, to amputate the limb above
the elbow.
