Brother of Ernest H. Pond, of "Westwood," York Avenue, Guernsey, Channel Islands.

Son of George William Pond who owned Pond's Stores at 1 High Street, Chippenham. George had been born in Norfolk and came to Chippenham in 1868, later becoming a councillor and Mayor of Chippenham in 1880. Maurice was given the second name of Silver as he was born during his father's mayoral year. His mother Mary Ann died in Sep 1921 aged 82.
